Becki Newton

Becki was born and raised in Guilford (Connecticut) However, she originated from New Haven. Her parents are English and Czech descent. She started performing in local theaters. with a major in European History. Newton, in his time as a Penn students, was was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. Newton relocated into New York City after graduation and was able to work in television commercials, including Olive Garden. Newton played the role of Amanda Tanen on the comedy-drama Ugly Betty series from 2006 until 2010. Newton hosted the Ugly Betty Podcast together with the co-star Michael Urie. She was also a part of ABC.com's Mode After Hours webisode series. Ugly Betty, which had four successful seasons by then it was canceled in the year 2010. The cancellation allowed the show to get a proper finale. Newton made an appearance at New York City Center's Encores at the end of 2009. Jerry Zaks was the director of this Gershwin production, Girl Crazy. Newton played Molly Gray and performed opposite the real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton appeared in Love Bites. Cindy Chupack created the hour-long romantic comedies. She worked as an executive producer on Sex and the City. NBC confirmed the renewal of the series in the month of May 2010.However it was cancelled after Newton declaring her pregnancy co-star Jordana Spiro was bound by a contract to stay with her other project My Boys (which ended up being later canceled) as well as Chupack's wish to quit the show Love Bites was pushed back until midseason.
